Do I need a battery charger?

A battery charger is an essential tool for maintaining the health and extending the lifespan of your batteries.

Your vehicle’s alternator is designed to power the engine and essential systems while driving – charging your batteries is only a side job. If you use accessories like a fridge, air compressor or lights with the engine off, it can take a while for the alternator to recharge the batteries. If the vehicle sits unused for long periods or takes only short trips, then over time, undercharging can shorten battery life and leave you unprepared when you need power the most.

A battery charger ensures your batteries are properly charged, extending their life, and keeping your Genesis Offroad dual battery system ready for any adventure.

How do I connect a charger to my Gen 3 system?

The most efficient way to charge both batteries is to connect to the factory positive clamp on the cranking battery and the factory negative clamp on the aux battery. This will allow the charger to charge both batteries together.

NOTE: ENSURE THE BOOST SWITCH IS IN THE 'AUTO' POSITION

POSITIVE TO CRANKING BATTERY

Hookup the positive lead to the positive post on the CRANKING battery.

NEGATIVE TO ACCESSORY BATTERY

Hookup the negative lead to the negative post on the ACCESSORY battery.

Find the Right Battery Charger for You

For maintaining small batteries in Powersports vehicles, Side-by-sides, and ATVs, a 5 amp charger is typical.

A 15 amp charger can handle most typical car batteries, and will get the job done to charge dual batteries at an economical price point.

For faster charging with dual batteries, or for higher capacity batteries, bump up to the 25 amp charger for best performance.
